The author considers loop algebras as algebras over a ring of Laurent polynomials \(k[t,t^{-1}]\). Thus loop algebras can be interpreted as torsors over \(\text{Spec}(k[t,t^{-1}])\). By using this interpretation, the author obtains some interesting new results about loop algebras. As an application, he recovers Kac's realization of affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras.
