Given contractions \(\varphi_{1},\ldots, \varphi_{m}\) on a complete metric space \(X\), \textit{J. Hutchinson} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 30, 713-747 (1981; Zbl 0598.28011)] proved the existence of a unique Borel measure \(\mu\) satisfying the measure-theoretic equation \(\mu=\sum_{i=1}^{m}p_i \mu\circ \varphi_{i}^{-1}\equiv {\mathcal T}\mu, \) where \(p_1,\ldots,p_m\) are non-negative numbers such that \(\sum_{i=1}^{m}p_i=1\). He further proved that \(\mu\) (called \textit{self-similar}) is a global attractor for the operator \({\mathcal T}\) in the topology of weak convergence -- using real-valued Lipschitz contractions as test functions -- within the space of Borel regular probability measures with bounded support. By considering a suitable class of Hölder continuous functions for weak convergence, \textit{U. Mosco} [Prog. Nonlinear Differ. Equ. Appl. 40, 233-248 (2000; Zbl 0949.28004)] extended Hutchinson's results to the case that \(X\) is a locally compact complete quasi-metric space. This paper builds on Mosco's ideas to establish existence of such a self-similar \(\mu\) in the case that \(X\) is a complete separable quasi-metric space.
