The paper begins with smoothness properties of a univariate spatial process \(\{X({\mathbf t})\), \({\mathbf t}\in R^d\}\). The continuity in the \(L_2\) sense and the continuity of process realizations are discussed as well as mean square differentiability. The smoothness of the process is characterized through its covariance structure. In the last section, the results are generalized to vector-valued processes.
