The theory of Dunkl operators defined as parametrized differential-reflection operators attached to a finite reflection group (1989, 1991, 1995, Dunkl; 1994, Dunkl, de Jeu, Opdam; 2001, Dunkl, Xu) is considered. In the framework of this theory the asymptotic behavior of the Dunkl kernel when one of the arguments is fixed and the other tends to infinity is studied by taking into account the well-known correspondence between Dunkl and Fourier transforms (1992, Dunkl; 1993, Opdam). It is pointed out that the integral kernel of the Dunkl transform (Dunkl kernel) may be treated as an analogue and a generalization of the classical exponential function which can be characterized as the solution of the joint eigenvalue problem for the associated Dunkl operators. The work is based on the asymptotic analysis of an associated system of ordinary differential equations. The obtained results generalize the well-known asymptotics of the confluent hypergeometric function \(_1F_1\) to the higher-dimensional setting and include a complete short-time asymptotics for the Dunkl-type heat kernel. It is shown, as an application, that in the rank-one case the representing measures for Dunkl's intertwining operator are absolutely continuous with respect to Lebesgue measure.
