A nondegenerate Monge-Ampère structure on an \(n\)-dimensional manifold \(M\) is a pair of differential forms \(( \Omega, \omega)\) where \( \Omega\) is a symplectic form and \(\omega\) is a 3-form (which is nondegenerate in the sense of Hitchin) such that \(\omega\) is \(\Omega\)-effective, i.e. \(\Omega \wedge \omega.\) This paper is devoted to show that the problem of local equivalence of Monge-Ampère equations in dimension 3 is the local expression of the problem of integrability of some geometrical structures that generalize in a very natural way the Calabi-Yau structure. In fact, to classify the symplectic Monge-Ampère equations with constant coefficients in dimension 3, \textit{V. V. Lychagin, V. Rubtsov} and \textit{I. V. Chekalov} [Ann. Sci. Ec. Norm. Supér. 26, 281--308 (1993; Zbl 0789.58078)] introduced a quadratic \(g_{\omega}\) associated with each 3-form \(\omega\), while in order to study the geometry of 3-dimensional Calabi-Yau manifold, \textit{N.~J. Hitchin} [J. Differ. Geom. 55, 547--576 (2000; Zbl 1036.53042)] defined a linear invariant \(K_{\omega}\) associated with each 3-form \(\omega\). In the paper under review the author shows in particular that these two invariants coincide in the effective case. He associates to the pair \(( \Omega, \omega )\) in the 6-dimensions manifold \(X\) a generalized almost (pseudo) Calabi-Yau structure and studies its integrability from the point of view of Monge-Ampère operator theory. The author then proves a result which generalizes an analogous result due to Lychagin and Rubtsov on integrability of the almost complex or almost product structure associated with an elliptic or hyperbolic Monge-Ampère equation in dimension 4. In the end, the author discusses the Stenzel metric on \(T^{*}S^{3}\) as an example.
