If \(ex=xe\) for all idempotents \(e\in S\) and all \(x\in S\) for an inverse semigroup \(S\) then we say that \(S\) is an inverse Clifford semigroup. An inverse Clifford semigroup is called a topological inverse Clifford semigroup if it is endowed with a topology such that the binary operation and the unary operation (of inverse element) are continuous. The cardinal invariants for topological inverse Clifford semigroups are investigated. Different characterizations of metrizable inverse Clifford semigroups are proven. Hence several sufficient conditions are derived for a compact topological inverse Clifford semigroup \(S\) such that the subsemilattice of all idempotents of \(S\) and all maximal subgroups of \(S\) are metrizable, to be metrizable. Thus the statement `a compact topological inverse Clifford semigroup \(S\) is metrizable whenever the semilattice of all idempotents of \(S\) and all maximal subgroups of \(S\) are metrizable' is independent of ZFC.
