The author investigates the multiplicity and asymptotic behavior of positive solutions for the following singular elliptic boundary value problem \[ \left\{\begin{matrix} \triangle u+\lambda u^{-\gamma}+u^p=0 &\text{in } \Omega\\ u>0 &\text{in } \Omega\\ u=0 &\text{on } \partial\Omega \end{matrix}\right.\eqno(1) \] where \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^N\) \((N\geq 3)\) is a bounded domain with smooth boundary \(\partial\Omega, 0<\gamma<p\leq \frac{N+2}{N-2}\), and \(\lambda>0\) is a real parameter. By using sub-supersolution and variational methods, the author obtains the structure of the weak solution set with respect to parameter \(\lambda\). Note that, in general, the weak solution may not be classical solution. However, if \(0<\gamma<\frac{1}{N}\) and \(1<p<\frac{N+2}{N-2}\), the weak solution of (1) is a classical solution. Based on this development, the author discusses the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of (1).
