Let \(E\) be a Banach lattice with a weak order unit \(e\) and \(E'\) be its dual with a weak order unit \(e'\). For a positive operator \(T\) on \(E\), let \(T'\) be its adjoint. If \(T' e' \leq e'\), M. Lin's definition of mixing positive contraction in \(L^1 (X, \sum, \mu)\), \(\mu (X) = 1\) is generalized to the setting of Banach lattices with weak order units as follows: \(T'\) is mixing if for every \(x \in [0, e']\), \(\displaystyle \lim_{n \rightarrow \infty}\langle T^n u, x\rangle =( x (e) / e' (e))\langle u, e'\rangle\) for every \(u\) in the principal ideal generated by \(e\). After proving equivalent conditions for mixing operators, the author, in his main theorem, proves a sufficent condition for strong convergence of averages of the iterates of power bounded positive operators in KB spaces. In the case of weakly compact power bounded positive operators, the main theorem is extended to Banach lattices with order continuous norms.
