On the example of Brusselator model as classical reaction-diffusion system the author investigates the dependence of the system behaviour on the domain length when other parameters are fixed and proves that the domain length is a key characteristic of distributed systems. It is shown how the system behaviour becomes more complicated as the domain length grows owing to the presence of diffusion. The results of a numerical experiment are presented, which illustrate the presence of an intermediate behaviour between a regular and a chaotic attractor, i.e. the presence of invariant tori.
