Suppose that \(\Omega \) is a domain with smooth boundary (of class \(C^{2+\alpha }\)) in \(\mathbb R^2\) or \(\mathbb R^3\). The author studies conditions under which a harmonic function \(v\) in \(\Omega \) is representable by a single layer potential with density in \(L_p(\partial \Omega )\), \(1<p<\infty \). This problem is studied on the ball for \(p=1\).
