For an isolated singularity, it is a classical idea to study the topology of the corresponding Milnor fibration via small deformations (called ``morsifications'') which split the singularity into a finite number of nodes \(A_1\). The number of these nodes is exactly the Milnor number of the singularity and the topology of the morsification does not depend on the chosen deformation. For a non-isolated singularity, various deformations have various topological properties. The key idea used by the author is to deform inside a fixed ideal \(I\), chosen so that the original singularity has finite codimension with respect to \(I\). This enables the author to generalise to this context many of results known for the isolated singularities. A new technical point is the use of intersection theory in some generalized jet-spaces.
