Let \((X, D)\) be a pair such that: 1) \(X\) is a rational surface with at most rational double points as singularities and \(D\) is a reduced divisor on \(X\); 2) the Kodaira dimension of \(X\setminus D\) is equal to \(-\infty\) and the pair \((X, D)\) is log terminal. Let \(G\) be a finite group that acts faithfully on \((X, D)\), namely \(G\) acts faithfully on \(X\) preserving \(D\). The above situation has been studied in by \textit{D.-Q. Zhang} [J. Algebra 238, No. 2, 560--589 (2001; Zbl 1057.14051)] in the case in which \(X\) is smooth and \(D\) is empty, and by \textit{M. Miyanishi} and \textit{K. Masuda} [Transform. Groups 7, No. 2, 185--207 (2002; Zbl 1057.14059)] in the case \(D\) empty, under the further assumption that the quotient surface \(X/G\) has Picard number \(\geq 2\). Here the authors consider the case in which \(D\) is nonempty and the Picard number of \(X/G\) is equal to 1. They show that one either has a) \(K^2_X\geq 8\), or b) \(2\leq K^2_X\leq 6\). In case a) the surface \(X\) is either \({\mathbb P}^2\), \({\mathbb P}^1\times {\mathbb P}^1\), the Segre-Hirzebruch surface \({\mathbb F}_2\) or the quadric cone, and the possible \(D\)'s are determined. In case b) there is a list of 43 different possibilities for the triple \((X,D,G)\). In each case the minimal resolution of \((X,D)\) and the \(G-\)action are described.
