The aim of this paper is to investigate an a posteriori error estimator for the Crouzeix-Raviart/\(P_0\) pair on anisotropic grids in the framework of the approximation of the Stokes problem. The analysis is based on hierarchical space splitting whose main ingredients are the strengthened Cauchy-Schwarz inequality and the saturation assumption. Beyond a careful mathematical analysis, the efficiency of the method is illustrated by appropriate numerical tests which include an internal layer, a boundary layer, a re-entrant corner and a crack simulation.
