Leibniz cohomology and the calculus of variations (Q1877593)

In this paper a geometric interpretation of the Leibniz coboundary in terms of the calculus of variations is given. The main results of the present paper are the following: (i) a local formula for the coboundary of any tensor is given in terms of a coordinate chart, and (ii) the Leibniz coboundary of the Riemann curvature tensor \(R\) is computed in terms of its covariant derivative \(\nabla R\).
