The authors considers two singular metrics (Bonnor, corresponding to a cloud of rotating dust, and the unphysical Kerr-Newman with \(a^2+e^2>m^2\)) and a non singular one (van Stockum, corresponding to an infinite rotating cylinder of dust with a finite radius). They show that for all these metrics, including the physically realistic low mass limit of the van Stockum metric, test particles initially at rest can eventually acquire angular velocities contrary to the rotation of the source.
