Let \(F:\Sigma\to M\) be a compact Lagrangian submanifold in a compact Calabi-Yau manifold \(M\) of complex dimension \(n\). If \(F\) evolves by the mean curvature flow, i.e. if there is a family of submanifolds \(F_t:\Sigma^n\to M^N\) that satisfies \(\frac{d}{dt}F_t(x) = H(x,t)\) and \(F_0=F\), where \(H(x,t)\) is the mean curvature vector of \(F_t(\Sigma)\subset M\), then \(F_t\) still remains Lagrangian for each \(t\in[0,T)\) where \(F_t\) is regular. Applying some rescaling arguments, the authors thoroughly analyze the properties of tangent cones of the mean curvature flow where singularity occurs at the first singular time \(T<\infty\). In particular, when \(n=2\) the tangent cone is a finite union of at least two 2-planes in \(\mathbb R^4\) which are complex in a complex structure on \(\mathbb R^4\).
