      The authors investigate the nonlinear hyperbolic problem \[ \begin{cases} u''-\Delta u'-\Delta u+f_0(\nabla u)=0 &\text{in }\Omega\times (0,\infty),\\ u=0 &\text{on }\Gamma_1\times (0,\infty),\\ u''+\frac{\partial u'}{\partial \nu}+\frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu}+\varphi(u')\ni \int_0^t h(t-\tau)f_1(u(\tau))\,d\tau &\text{on }\Gamma_0\times (0,\infty),\\ u(x,0)=u'(x,0)=0 &\text{in }\Omega,\end{cases}\tag{P} \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain of \(\mathbb R^n\) with the smooth boundary \(\partial \Omega=\Gamma_0\cup \Gamma_1\). Under certain conditions on \(f_0\), \(\varphi\), \(h\) and \(f_1\) it is proved the existence and uniform decay rates of the solutions for the problem \((P)\).
