The author studies non-singular algebraic hypersurfaces \(V\) in \(\mathbb C\mathbb P^{n+1}\). The diffeomorphism and symplectic type of such a hypersurface depends on \(n\) and its degree \(d\). Therefore, as the author remarks, one can raise a general question of describing a non-singular hypersurface \(V\subset \mathbb C\mathbb P^{n+1}\) as a smooth manifold and as a symplectic manifold in terms of \(n\) and \(d\). Some known answers, for small values of these constants, are given in the introduction. The author shows that for any values of \(n\) and \(d\) the hypersurface \(V\) admits a singular fibration \(\lambda :V \rightarrow \overline\Pi\), where \(\overline\Pi\) is an \(n\)-dimensional polyhedral complex. The complex \(\overline\Pi\) is a compactification of the polyhedral complex \(\Pi \subset{\mathbb R}^{n+1}\) and is homotopy equivalent to the bouquet of \(p_{g}\) copies of \(S^{n}\). The symbol \(p_{g}\) denotes here the geometric genus of \(V\). The generic fiber of \(\lambda\) is diffeomorphic to a smooth torus \(T^n\). There is a natural stratification on \(\Pi\) which determines a decomposition of \(V\) into \(d^{n+1}\) copies of \({\mathcal P}_n\), where \({\mathcal P}_n\) is diffeomorphic to \(\mathbb C\mathbb P^n\) with removed \(n+2\) hyperplanes in general position. This generalizes the ``pair-of-pants'' decomposition of Riemann surfaces. The author also shows how to reconstruct, as a smooth manifold, \(V\) from \(\Pi\) and its PL-embedding into \({\mathbb R}^{n+1}\). As a consequence the author obtains linearly independent elements in \(H_{n}(V).\)
