Exact asymptotics for fluid queues fed by multiple heavy-tailed on-off flows. (Q1879897)

The paper considers the workload \(\mathbf V\) in a fluid queue fed by multiple On-Off flows with heavy-tailed (regularly varying) On periods. It is assumed that the flows may be partitioned into the set of ``light-tailed'' flows and the set of ``heavy-tailed'' flows. The qualitative behavior of \(P\{{\mathbf V}>x\}\) essentially depends on the sum of the mean rate of the ``light-tailed'' flows and the peak rate of the ``heavy-tailed'' flows. The present paper determines the exact asymptotics of \(P\{{\mathbf V}>x\}\) when this sum is greater than 1.
