Volumes of symmetric random polytopes (Q1880192)

Let \(U_{K,N}\) (resp. \(V_{K, N}\)) be the volume of the convex hull (resp. the symmetric convex hull) of \(N\) independent uniform random points in an \(n\)-dimensional symmetric convex body \(K\). The author studies the moments of \(U_{K,N}\) and \(V_{K,N}\) and calculates the second and fourth moments of \(V_{K,n}\) explicitly for \(K= B^n_q\), the unit ball in \(l^q\). He then derives the asymptotic behaviour of \((\mathbb{E} V_{B^n_q,n})^{{1\over n}}\) and \((\mathbb{E} U_{B^n_q, n+1})^{{1\over n}}\) and calculates all moments of \(V_{B^n_2,n}\).
