    This paper concerns the parabolic-elliptic coupled system \[ u_ t=\Delta u -\nabla\cdot(u\nabla v),\quad 0=\Delta v+u \quad \text{ in } \;\mathbb R^2\times(0,\infty). \] By seeking the self-similar solutions \(u(x,t)=t^{-1}\phi(t^{-1/2}x)\geq 0\) and \(v(x,t)=\psi(t^{-1/2}x)\) the authors reduce the system into the elliptic system \[ \nabla\cdot(\nabla\phi -\phi\nabla\psi)+\phi=0, \quad \Delta\psi+\phi=0\quad \text{ in }\;\mathbb R^2, \] and prove: (a) The solution \((\phi,\psi)\) satisfies \(\phi(x)=\sigma e^{\psi(x)-| x| ^2/4}\) for some constant \(\sigma>0\); (b) \(\phi\) and \(\psi\) are radially symmetric, and strictly decreasing for \(r=| x| \); (c) \(0<\| \phi\| _{L^1(\mathbb R^2)} <8\pi\), and \(\| \phi\| _{L^1(\mathbb R^2)}\to 8\pi\), \(\phi(dx)\to 8\pi\delta(dx)\) as \(\sigma\to\infty\), where \(\delta(dx)\) denotes the Dirac measure with support at origin.
