A module \(M\) is called a \((C_{11})\)-module if every submodule of \(M\) has a complement which is a direct summand of \(M\). As a generalization of this notion, the author defines a module \(M\) to be a weak \((C_{11})\)-module if every semisimple submodule of \(M\) has a complement which is a direct summand of \(M\). The author then raises the following two questions: 1) Is a direct sum of a module with essential socle and a module with zero socle a weak \((C_{11}) \)-module? 2) Is a direct sum of a \((C_{11})\)-module with essential socle and a module with zero socle a \((C_{11})\)-module? In this paper, some results on weak \((C_{11})\)-modules are obtained, and counterexamples are constructed to provide negative answers to the above two questions.
