The paper deals at first with the free vibrations of a nonlinear radially symmetric wave equation \(\partial ^{2}_{t}u(r,t)-\triangle u(r,t)=f(r,u(r,t))\) on a cylindrical domain \(\Omega\) determined by a ball \(B_a\). Under certain assumptions on \(f\), the existence of infinitely many time-periodic solutions is proved. The set of the periods is unbounded on \(\mathbb R_+\). The solutions are of \(C^{2}\)-class. As a typical example of \(f\) is \(f(r,u)=A(r)u^3\), where \(A(r)\) is any positive and even \(C^{\infty}\)-function. The results depend on the Diophantine properties of the periods and the zeroes of the Bessel functions of the first kind. The second considered problem in the paper are forced vibrations of BVP given by \(\partial ^{2}_{t}u(r,t)-\triangle u(r,t)=\epsilon g(r,t,u(r,t))\), \((x,t)\in \Omega\), \(u(r,t)=0\) on \(\partial \Omega\). Here \(g\) is \(T\)-periodic in \(t\). Under certain assumptions on \(g\) and an Diophante condtion for \(T/a\), the existence of a \(T\)-periodic solution is shown for any small \(\epsilon \).
