Linear, finite-dimensional discrete-time control systems with bounded controls and constant coefficients are considered. Basic definitions of controllability are recalled and discussed. Next, using algebraic methods, necessary and sufficient conditions for null-controllability and asymptotic null controllability are formulated and proved. Certain special cases are also discussed in detail. Moreover, many remarks and comments on the controllability problem for discrete-time control systems are given. Finally, it should be pointed out that similar controllability problems have been considered in the monograph [\textit{J. Klamka}, Controllability of dynamical systems. Dordrecht: Kluwer (1991; Zbl 0732.93008)].
