Bilinear, finite-dimensional, discrete-time control systems with bounded control and constant coefficients are considered. Basic definitions of controllability are recalled and discussed. Next, using algebraic and topological methods, sufficient conditions for zero-controllability are formulated and proved. Some special cases are also discussed. In the proofs of the main results several results taken directly from the theory of matrices are extensively used. Finally, it should be pointed out that similar controllability problem have been considered in the monograph [\textit{J. Klamka}, Controllability of dynamical systems. Dordrecht: Kluwer (1991; Zbl 0732.93008)]. The paper contains also many remarks and comments.
