Picard groups of the moduli spaces of semistable sheaves. I (Q1882349)

The paper follows another paper of the same author [Math. Ann. 314, No. 2, 245--263 (1999; Zbl 0979.14003] on the Picard group of the moduli space \(U_L'(n,d)\) of semistable vector bundles of rank \(n\) with fixed determinant \(L\) (of degree \(d)\) on an irreducible projective nodal curve \(Y\) of geometric genus \(g\geq 2\). The paper investigates the Picard group of the moduli space \(U'(n,d)\) (resp. \(U^{\prime s}(n,d))\), of semistable (stable) vector bundles of rank \(n\) and degree \(d\) on a nodal curve \(Y\) and proves in particular that \(U'(n,d)\) is locally factorial. The paper contains also results on the structure of the Picard group of the moduli space of torsion-free sheaves.
