Let \(G\) be a locally compact, \(\sigma\)-compact group, and let \(A\) and \(B\) be separable \(G\)-algebras, i.e., separable \(C^{\ast}\)-algebras with a pointwise norm-continuous action of \(G\) by automorphisms. Assume also that \(B\) is weakly stable, i.e., that \(B\) is equivariantly isomorphic to \(B\otimes {\mathbb K}\) where \({\mathbb K}\) denotes the compact operators on \(l_2\) with the trivial \(G\)-action. Let \(\text{Ext}^{-1/2}(SA,B)\) be the group of unitary equivalence classes of extensions of \(SA\) by \(B\), modulo the extensions which are asymptotically split. Let \([[SS^2A,B]]\) be the group of homotopy classes of asymptotic homomorphisms \(S^2A\to B\). The aim of the paper is to prove the following theorem: the Connes-Higson construction is an isomorphism \(\text{Ext}^{-1/2}(SA,B)\to [[SS^2A,B]]\).
