A single-server retrial system with a finite space for the orbit and vacations of the server is considered. Phase-type distributions of the interarrival times, service times and vacations are assumed. Repeated attempts (customers from the orbit) have an exponenitial distribution. A multi-dimensional Markov process is constructed which describes the system dymanics. The corresponding equilibrium matrix form equations for the state probabilities are derived, and matrix-multiplicative solution is found. The similar results are obtained for the embedded Markov chain at the service completion instants. Numerical results are also included which are based on the algorithmic type representation of the matrix-multiplicative form. To do this, three matrices are inverted and an inhomogeneous system of linear algebraic equations is solved.
