Let \(X\) be a topological space and \(E\) a Banach space. A point \(x \in X\) is said to be a strict equilibrium of a multimap \(\Phi : X \multimap E\) if \(\Phi (x) = \{0\}.\) The author describes the relation of this notion with the invariance problem for differential inclusions on non-invariant closed subsets of Euclidean spaces. Two different approaches are suggested for the search of the strict equilibria for continuous compact-convex-valued multimaps. One of them is based on topological degree theory, whereas the second uses the Conley-type homotopy index. As an application, a new geometrical method for studying common fixed points of families of maps is given.
