Let \(\mathbb{K}\) be a field. A behavior (or discrete linear system) is a closed shift invariant \(\mathbb{K}\)-submodule \(M\subset (\mathbb{K}^{\mathbb{N}})^r\) for some natural number \(r\). A behavior is naturally a module over the polynomial ring \(\mathbb{K}[z]\). In the paper under review the author establishes a duality \(D: M \mapsto M^{*}\) between the category \({\text{Mod}}\,\mathbb{K}\) \,\(\mathbb{K}\)-modules, and the category \({\text{TopMod}}_{{\text{pf}}}\) of profinite topological \(\mathbb{K}\)-modules. This duality is then used to derive properties of behaviors, and their noncommutative generalizations.
