Property P for knots admitting certain Gabai disks (Q1888466)

The authors determine a class of knots that have property P, namely they show that a non-trivial, non trefoil knot with a minimal spanning surface admitting two Gabai disks has property P. Their proof uses the theory of essential laminations and Gabai disks. This class of knots contains closed 3-braid knots and knots represented by closed homogeneous braids. Thus, the work of the authors gives a simplified proof of a result of Menasco and Zhang for closed 3-braid knots.
