The paper studies properties of groups with the small cancellation properties \(B(6)\) and \(B(4)\)-\(T(4)\). These classes include the traditional classes \(C'(1/6)\) and \(C'(1/4)\)-\(T(4)\). Roughly speaking, the \(B(2p)\) condition states that any subword of a relator which is more than half of its length, cannot be expressed as a product of \(p\) or fewer pieces. Here are some of the main results: every finitely generated infinite \(B(6)\) or \(B(4)\)-\(T(4)\) group has codimension 1 subgroups and thus does not have property (T). (A subgroup \(H\) in a finitely generated group \(G\) is said to be a `codimension 1 subgroup' if the number of ends in the coset graph \(H\backslash G\) is greater than 1.) Further, every finitely presented \(B(4)\)-\(T(4)\) or word-hyperbolic \(B(6)\) group acts properly discontinuously and compactly on a CAT(0) cube complex. It is also shown that a finitely presented \(B(6)\) group is word-hyperbolic if and only if it contains no \(\mathbb{Z}\times\mathbb{Z}\) subgroup (\(\mathbb{Z}\) is the infinite cyclic group).
