Let \(M\) be a smooth manifold. We denote by \(\langle . , . \rangle_+\) the canonical symmetric bilinear operation on \(TM \oplus T^*M\),\ \(\langle (X_1, \alpha_1) , (X_2, \alpha_2) \rangle_+ = (i_{X_2}\alpha_1 + i_{X_1}\alpha_2)/2\). An almost Dirac structure on \(M\) is a sub-bundle of the vector bundle \(TM \oplus T^*M\) which is maximally isotropic with respect to \(\langle . , . \rangle_+\). A Dirac structure \(L\) on \(M\) is an almost Dirac structure which is integrable in the sense that the space of all sections \(\Gamma(L)\) of \(L\) is closed under the Courant bracket. Dirac structures generalize foliations, Poisson structures and pre-symplectic 2-forms. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the basic properties of locally conformal Dirac bundles. A locally conformal Dirac bundle over \(M\) is an almost Dirac structure \(L\) such that there exist an open cover \(\mathcal{U}=\left(U_i \right)_{i\in I}\) of \(M\) and smooth positive functions \(f_i: U_i \to \mathbb{R}\) for which the sub-bundle \(L_i = \{ \left(X_{U_i}, f_i \alpha| _{U_i}\right) \;| \;(X,\alpha)\in L \}\subset TU_i \oplus T^*U_i\) is a Dirac structure on \(U_i\) for all \(i\in I\). To any locally conformal Dirac bundle \(L\), there corresponds a skew-symmetric bilinear map \(\Omega_L\) on \(L\) which induces a 2-form on the distribution \(\rho(\Gamma(L))=\{X\in \mathcal{X}(M)\;| \;(X,\alpha)\in \Gamma(L) \}\), \ \(\Omega_L(X,Y)=\alpha(Y)\), for any \((X,\alpha),\;(Y,\beta)\in \Gamma(L)\). Any locally conformal Dirac bundle \(L\) induces a singular foliation \(\rho(\Gamma(L))\) whose leaves are locally conformal pre-symplectic manifolds. If rank of \(\Omega_L\) is greater than 2 at every point \(x\in M\) then there exists a (unique) Lee 1-form \(\omega_L\) satisfying \(d\Omega_L= - \omega_L\wedge\Omega_L \), where \(d\) denotes the derivative along the foliation defined by \(\rho(\Gamma(L))\). There are two fundamental Lie algebras associated with a locally conformal Dirac bundle \(L\) whose 2-form \(\Omega_L\) has rank \(r(x)>2\): (i) The Lie algebra of \(L\)-admissible functions. (ii) The Lie algebra \(\mathcal{A}(L)\) of infinitesimal automorphisms. In this paper it is shown that if there exists a vector field \(Z\) such that \((Z,\omega_L)\in \Gamma(L)\), then there is a Lie homomorphism between a subalgebra of \(\mathcal{A}(L)\) and the Lie algebra of \(L\)-admissible functions. Two locally conformal Dirac bundles \(L_1\), \(L_2\) are conformally equivalent if \(\rho(\Gamma(L_1))=\rho(\Gamma(L_2))\) and if there exists a nowhere vanishing function \(f\) such that \(\Omega_{L_1}=f \Omega_{L_2}\). An equivalence class of such locally conformal Dirac bundles is called a locally conformal Dirac structure on \(M\). It is shown that, for a large family of locally conformal Dirac structures \(\mathcal{D}\), the extended Lie homomorphism does not depend on the locally conformal Dirac bundle representing \(\mathcal{D}\).
