The recently discovered 100 or so extra-solar giant planets have masses in the range of 0.12-11 Jupiter masses and are at distances of several AU or closer to the central star with periods of several days. Some of the giant planets are in or near resonant configurations. Here, using both analytical and numerical methods, the author investigates the orbital evolution of two planets in 2:1 commensurability through migration tidally induced by a gaseous disc. It is noted that the results obtained are sensitive to the profile of initial surface density, planet masses and disc parameters. A multi-planet system in secular apsidal resonance is also considered. The results of numerical simulations are presented in numerous figures.
