    Let \(\widetilde s_n(f, x)\) denote the \(n\)th partial sum of the conjugate series of a Fourier series of a \(2\pi\)-periodic and Lebesgue integrable function \(f\). Let \(\psi_x(t)= f(x+ t)- f(x- t)\) and let \(\text{osc}(f, I)\) denote the oscillation of a bounded function \(f\) on an interval \(I\). The present paper deals with a quantitative version of the Young test for the convergence of the conjugate series. The main results are as follows: Theorem 1. If \(f\) is bounded, then \[ |\widetilde s_n(f, x)- \widetilde f(x, \pi/n)|\leq \Biggl(1+ {1\over \pi}\Biggr) \sum^n_{k= 1} {1\over k}\text{ osc}(\psi_x, I_{kn}), \] where \(\widetilde f\) is the function conjugate to \(f\) and \(I_{kn}= [{(k- 1)\pi\over n}, {k\pi\over n}]\), \(k= 0, 1, 2,\dots\;\). Theorem 2. If \(f\) is bounded and such that \(\sum^\infty_{k= 1} {1\over k}\text{ osc}(\psi_x, J_k)< \infty\), \(J_k= [0, {\pi\over k}]\), \(k= 1, 2, 3,\dots\), then \(\widetilde f\) exists at \(x\) and \[ |\widetilde s_n(f, x)- \widetilde f(x)|\leq \bigl(1+ {1\over \pi}\bigr) \sum^n_{k= 1} {1\over k}\text{ osc}(\psi_x, I_{kn})+ {1\over \pi} \sum^\infty_{k= n} {1\over k}\text{ osc} (\psi_x, J_k),\;n\geq 1. \] The author derives a number of interesting corollaries.
