A \(q\)-analogue of Graf's addition formula for the Hahn-Exton \(q\)-Bessel function (Q1890557)

The \(q\)-analogue of the Bessel function under consideration in this paper has recently aroused considerable interest in connection with its relation to the irreducible unitary representation of the quantum group of plane motions. Here, a further contribution is made to the extremely rich structure of this function, where an analytic proof of addition and product formulae are given. The latter is re-interpreted as an analogue of the Graf addition formula. The formal limit \(q \uparrow 1\) is also worked out giving a known result for the Bessel function.
