If \(X\) is a simply connected space, denote by Baut \(X\) the base of the universal fibration of fibre \(X\). The author proves the the Lusternik- Schnirelmann category of Baut \(X\) is not finite when \(X\) is a wedge of spheres or when \(X\) is a finite CW-complex with finite dimensional rational homotopy. The proofs use Quillen's model of Baut \(X\).
