This paper presents a new technique for calculating electrostatic fields in inhomogeneous dielectric media. The approach used is similar to the classical finite element and finite difference methods in the way the model is discretized. However, in this technique, the space is tessellated into cubic cells where fictitious charges are placed inside them. Again this would lead to a resulting system of equations that describe the problem in the ordinary way. The solution, hence is arrived at by standard techniques such as the Gauss-Seidel method. The accuracy of the proposed technique is discussed through examples and compared against analytical techniques and against a technique presented by the authors in part I [ibid. 118, No. 1, 172-179 (1995; reviewed above)]. It is shown that the proposed technique is faster but less accurate than the indirect boundary element method.
