The complex Kohn variational principle is applied to obtain the solution of the Lippman-Schwinger equation for the nucleon-nucleon scattering and the deuteron bound-state problem with the Reid softcore potentials in several angular momentum channels. The authors calculate the scattering phase shifts, off-shell \(t\) matrix elements, the deuteron wave functions and the deuteron \(D\) state to \(S\) state ratio. In all cases the convergence is very good and better than the one obtained with the Schwinger variational principle for the same problem.
