There are considered systems of the forms \[ -\text{div}(A(|Du|) Du)= f(|x|, u, v),\;-\text{div}(B(|Dv|)Dv)= g(|x|, u, v), \] in \(\mathbb{R}^N\), \(N\geq 3\), where \(D\) denotes the gradient operator, \(A\), \(B\) are positive scalar functions and \(f\), \(g\) are certain nonlinearities. Investigation is for nontrivial positive radially symmetric solutions of the system such that \(\lim_{|x|\to \infty} u(|x|)= \lim_{|x|\to \infty} v(|x|)= 0\) holds (ground states). First a lemma gives the behavior at \(+ \infty\) for positiv radial supersolutions of a similar scalar problem. Then the authors obtain some non-existence results for ground states for some cases of assumptions on \(A\), \(B\), \(f\), \(g\). Also a non-existence result is obtained for a system which are the Euler-Lagrange equations of a functional. Examples are given in which the \(\rho\)-Laplacian or the mean curvature operator in non-parametric form appear.
