[Part I, cf. ibid. 163, No. 1, 173-184 (1994; Zbl 0835.17019.] The space of conformal blocks \(C\) in the Wess-Zumino-Witten model, which is a bundle of certain coinvariants for irreducible representations of an affine Lie algebra \(\widehat {\mathfrak g}\), is described as a quotient of trivial bundle \(B\) with a fiber being a tensor product of finite-dimensional modules over a simple Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}\). This quotient is a cokernel of an (explicitly given) operator acting in this bundle \(B\). On the other hand, Schechtman and Varchenko earlier attached to the space of coinvariants a certain local system over \(X_{n+N}= \mathbb{C}^{n+N} \setminus \{\text{diagonals}\}\) defined by a flat connection with logarithmic singularities in a linear bundle \(L\). They constructed a map from \(B\) to the direct image \(R^N p_{N^*} L^{\Sigma,-}\) where \(p_N\) is a projection from \(X_{n+N}\) to \(X_N\) and \(L^{\Sigma,-}\) means skew-invariants with respect to a certain subgroup \(\Sigma\) of the symmetric group \(\Sigma_n\). It is now proved that this map passes through the bundle \(C\) of conformal blocks. The resulting map is expected to be injective and thus gives a topological description of a space of conformal blocks.
