The paper is concerned with the homogenization of a thick, linearly elastic plate containing asymmetrically distributed holes with respect to the middle plane, but having a periodic structure in planar coordinates. The plate is subjected to a known temperature distribution. The author employs Reissner-Mindlin theory for thick plates and shows that there exist a set of global or homogenized displacements depending on macroscopic variables in the domain of the plate and a set of correctors to this global behaviour depending on both macroscopic and microscopic variables. The variables are defined in a cell of unit diameter which is the dilation of one periodic cell. Using these tools, the process of homogenization is achieved. A rigorous mathematical treatment of two scale convergence, based on a variational scheme, is provided.
