As is well known, by using the first standard isometric imbedding \(\mathbb{C} P^ n \to E^ N\) of a complex projective \(n\)-space \(\mathbb{C} P^ n\) into a Euclidean \(N\)-space \(E^ N\), submanifolds immersed in \(\mathbb{C} P^ n\) can be viewed as Euclidean submanifolds in \(E^ N\). In this paper, by employing the computing method as in (*) [\textit{Y. B. Shen}, On spectral geometry of minimal surfaces in \(\mathbb{C} P^ n\), to appear in Trans. Am. Math. Soc.], the authors study minimal surfaces \(M\) in \(\mathbb{C} P^ n\) whose mean curvature vector field \(H\) in \(E^ N\) is the eigenvector field of the Laplacian \(\Delta\) of \(M\), namely, \(\Delta H = \lambda H\) for some eigenvalue \(\lambda\). The authors prove that such minimal surfaces must be locally either a portion of \(\mathbb{C} P^ 1\) or a totally real isotropic minimal surface of \(\mathbb{C} P^ 2\). It should be pointed out that a lot of formulas in this paper can be found in (*). Particularly, the computation of the Laplacian \(\Delta H\) and some lemmas have been shown in (*).
