The paper summarizes results on the longest runs in coin tossing. The precise distribution with asymptotic behaviour and almost sure lower and upper bounds are presented. The theoretical results are compared with simulations. The end of the paper treats two interesting applications. The first example is the roulette and the other is from finance. The authors consider a model of the maximum drawdown.
