A large family of semi-classical polynomials: The perturbed Chebyshev (Q1893586)

The finite perturbations of order \(s\geq 2\) of the second kind Chebyshev polynomials are obtained by changing constants in linear polynomials and first \(s= 1\) recurrence relations. Their semi-classical character [see \textit{P. Maroni}, Ann. Mat. Pura Appl., IV. Ser. 149, 165-184 (1987; Zbl 0636.33009)] is proved, an upper bound for their class if found. Explicit formula in terms of the second kind Chebyshev polynomials and a direct derivation of a second-order differential equation are given. Several examples, known and new, are considered.
