Following Billingsley's theory of dimension the author introduces the notions of a net as well as of a \(\nu\)-net for a given bounded subset \(K\) of \(\mathbb{R}^N\), where \(\nu\) is a Borel probability measure on \(\mathbb{R}^N\). He further defines a certain Billingsley measure and dimension. These are related to ordinary Hausdorff measure and dimension. The derived method to calculate the Hausdorff dimension works without constructing any complete covering of \(K\) as an example shows.
