A balanced identity \(w_1 = w_2\), where each variable appears precisely once on each side, is said to be a consequence of commutativity (COC) if \(w_1 \not \equiv w_2\) but \(w_1\) can be transformed into \(w_2\) by using the commutative law. The author studies the relations between abelian group isotopes and proper COC-quasigroups, (i.e., non- commutative quasigroups satisfying the COC condition). Some interesting applications of the study of the Pexider functional equation are given.
