This paper deals with certain Eisenstein series on \(\text{Sp}(n, F)\) with \(F\) a totally real number field, which can be described as follows for \(F= \mathbb{Q}\). Let \(P^{n, r}\) denote the parabolic subgroup consisting of the elements of \(G^n= \text{Sp}(n, \mathbb{Q})\) whose lower left \((n- r)\times (n- r)\) block is zero. Given a congruence subgroup \(\Gamma\) of \(G^n\) and a holomorphic modular form \(f\) of weight \(k\), the Eisenstein series \(E^{n, r}_k(z, s; f, \Gamma)\) of weight \(k\) defined by \[ E^{n, r}_k(z, s; f, \Gamma)= \sum_{\alpha\in A} \{f(\omega_r(z)) [\delta(z)/\delta(\omega_r(z))]^{s- k/2}\}|_k\alpha, \] where \(z\) is an element of the Siegel half-space \(H_n\) of degree \(n\), \(s\in \mathbb{C}\), \(A= (\Gamma\cap P^{n, r})\backslash \Gamma\), \(\delta(z)= \text{det}(\text{Im}(z))\), \(w_r(z)\) is the upper \((r\times r)\)-block of \(z\), and \(|_k\alpha\) is the weight \(k\) action of \(\alpha\). The author proves that there is a natural finite set \(X\) of critical points such that \(E^{n, r}_k (z, s; f, \Gamma)\) is nearly holomorphic and that the space of all holomorphic modular forms on \(G^n\) is spanned by cusp forms and Eisenstein series. He also introduces the zeta function attached to a Hecke eigenform belonging to a principal congruence subgroup, and shows that its product with gamma factors can be continued to a meromorphic function on the whole plane with finitely many simple poles.
