In one space dimension, a class of mechanical models with the interaction between dissipation and nonlinearity is based on single-integral laws, \(\sigma (t) = \widehat {\sigma} (\varepsilon (t)) + \int^\infty_0 \widetilde {\sigma} (\varepsilon (t), \varepsilon(t - s),s) ds\), giving the stress \(\sigma (t)\) when the strain \(\varepsilon (\tau)\) is known at all past times \(\tau \leq t\). Our objective here is to study such problems for deforming bodies under varying temperature using, as a basis, a thermodynamic theory of viscoelastic materials of single- integral type.
