Imaginary bicyclic biquadratic fields with cyclic 2-class group (Q1896588)

The authors investigate the structure of the 2-class group \(H\) of an imaginary bicyclic biquadratic field \(K\). For this purpose they first compute the rank of \(H\) by considering the number of ambiguous classes of \(K/k\) belonging to \(H\) in the case that there exists a quadratic subfield \(k\) with odd class number, and by using some results of \textit{T. Kubota} in the case that all quadratic subfields have even class number [cf. Nagoya Math. J. 10, 65-85 (1956; Zbl 0074.030)]. Then, by developing such techniques for determining the rank of \(H\), they determine all these fields with cyclic 2-class group, and moreover determine the structure of \(H\) with non-cyclic 2-class group in several cases.
